David Atkinson is an Irish born poet, originally from Belfast and now living in Coleraine.
His first collection “Thomas” was published by Lapwing in 2005.
His second collection “Black Eyed Peace” was published as a free eBook in 2014. The book, available on the link below, has been downloaded over 2000 times and has readers in six continents. The book is also available in hard copy directly from the author.
His poetry has also been published, nationally and internationally, by Boston Poetry Magazine, Jawline Review, The Learned Pig, The Angry Manifesto, A New Ulster, Poetry 4 U, Community Arts Partnership, Poetry NI, and Blowing Raspberries. His work has also been published and broadcast by BBC Radio Ulster.
His poem “Hunting for the Aurora” was nominated by Boston Poetry Magazine for the Pushcart Prize.
His poem “Fallujah Birthdays” was a runner up in the Troubadour poetry competition.
His poem “Outing to Shane’s Castle” was the winner of the Red Sails Festival poetry competition.
He is a longstanding member of the Ballymoney Writers, and has edited and published their last four anthologies of poetry and prose.
